The chicken has amazing credentials. What other backyard animal, is a composter, weed controller, pest controller, creator of natural fertiliser and food production all in one? From humble beginnings, the backyard chicken is known as micro livestock pet. In fact it is the only sustainable backyard pet.
In this workshop you will learn about benefits of recycling food waste through keeping backyard chickens. There is mounting evidence for our need to reduce landfill and to also replenish our soils, sending food waste to landfill is ridiculous when chickens address both of these issues and also give us one of the healthiest foods known to us, the humble egg.
The workshop is informative and vast in the fundamentals of keeping backyard chickens. It will cover topics such as:
health & safety
choosing the right breed for you and your family
point of lay
