About this event

The Sydney chapter of the Australasian Women in Ancient World Studies (AWAWS) is hosting a panel discussion on disablism in Ancient World Studies. We are delighted to be joined by five ancient world scholars living with a disability from Australasia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America, who will cover a range of topics about navigating Ancient World Studies and academia and studying disability in the ancient world.

Our panel (in alphabetical order) includes:

Alexandra Morris: Ancient Disability Historian, Egyptologist, & Alexander the Great Scholar. Disabled PhD Student in History at Teesside University.

David Chapman: Egyptologist, PhD candidate at Macquarie University, interested in officials, temples, and prosopography.

Isabel Ruffell: Professor of Greek Drama and Culture at the University of Glasgow. Main areas of research have hitherto been ancient drama, mainly Greek but also some Roman, and more recently ancient science and technology

Kyle Jordan: Graduate student at University College London. Studying archaeology, history and heritage of Egypt. Research interests include religion, magic, and identity.

Mason Shrader: Mediterranean Archaeology student, archaeologist researching ancient Greece and Rome.
