Awâre Conversation Circle - Canberra

By Awâre

Overview

Join us at Awâre for an intimate gathering to meet new people, share thoughts, and form deeper, more meaningful connections.

Are you tired of listening to small talk? Are you interested in building deeper, more meaningful relationships with others? Or maybe you're new to Canberra and are looking to meet new people. We can help you.

Small talk is a prevalent part of our society - whether that’s with colleagues at work, chats with a gym buddy, or Friday evening gossip over drinks. While small talk has its charm and place, it doesn’t allow for two people to get to know each other at a deeper level - something that all of us need.

Awâre is about creating a space for people to share stories, thoughts, and laughter. We’re not selling anything, we’re simply trying to create a space and build a community of people who are looking to form meaningful relationships through conversation.

Oh, and did we mention it's free? Questions we sometimes discuss include:

  • What do you love most about where you come from?
  • If you could redesign the human body with one new feature or ability, what would it be and why?
  • If you could live forever, would you want to?
  • What do you think is humanity's most influential invention of all time?
  • What does happiness mean to you and how do you cultivate it daily?
  • What does romance mean to you? Does our understanding of romance change with time and relationships?
  • And more!

Here, we welcome people of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds to take a break from all the world's small talk and come in, meet strangers and talk about all sorts of topics around the sun. There is always a right to pass, as this is intended to be a safe space for anyone participating. Sometimes we’ll provide you with prompts, other times we’ll keep it fresh and genuine.

We ask you to bring your perspective, enthusiasm, and maybe a friend as well. We’ll also accept donations from those who wish to contribute, but nothing is obligatory. Ultimately, we aim to spread love and friendship, one conversation at a time.

See you there!

Agenda

Light round - warming up

We’ll kick off with a few fun, thought-provoking questions to break the ice and ease into the flow of conversation. Expect laughter, curiosity, and a few surprising takes as everyone settles in and gets comfortable sharing.

Deep round - diving in

Once we're all feeling connected, we’ll move into a deeper theme. This round invites more reflection and vulnerability, exploring ideas around memory, identity, and how our sense of self is shaped by what (and who) we remember. It’s a space for honest stories, empathy, and discovery.
