Description

Emotional intelligence is key to wellbeing and healthy relationships in all areas of our lives. It requires us to be aware of and skilfully manage our emotions internally and in the context of our relationships. However, emotions can sometimes be confusing, uncomfortable and overwhelming. We often have a tendency to preference the ‘good’ ones like joy, inspiration and excitement, and can try to avoid experiencing feelings like anger, anxiety, fear and sadness. Sometimes we may repress emotions and go numb, or we become overcome and over-express our emotions, behaving in ways that we regret afterwards when the feelings have subsided. We all know how it feels to stay stuck in an emotional state – feeling trapped in the experience or having reoccurring emotions that seem to keep ‘looping’.

In Awaken Your Emotions, we explore how we can learn from our emotions and see them as teachers and allies – rather than something undesirable. We work with tools to be able to feel emotions without judgement and self criticism – to soften into presence with our emotions, to be open and accept them without being taken over by them. We will look at the connection between the body and the emotional experience, and how this sensory connection provides important messages to us for our understanding, healing and personal growth.

This workshop will awaken your ability to feel, accept and understand your emotions and help you to develop the ability to regulate and process emotions in a safe and healthy way.

In this workshop you will:

  • Experience a 90 minute master yoga class with senior yoga teacher Justine Janssen

  • Do a powerful meditation using 3 key energy centres of the body

  • Use ancient qigong practices to gently open up the natural flow of emotions thorough the body

  • Use lines of energy in the body through yoga poses to allow emotions to move freely

  • Increase your emotional intelligence by learning to accept and listen to your emotions

  • Explore specific emotions and their valuable roles – cultivate increased gratitude and respect for the different emotions

  • Break habitual emotional patterns and find healthy new ways to express and release emotional energy

  • Deepen your awareness of emotional energy as sensation in the body

  • Experience a relaxing sensory awakening journey with sound, gentle movement, breath practices, essential oils and sprays
