About this event

Avondale School has a long legacy of basketball excellence. Our teams have represented Avondale locally, in the Avondale University Basketball Competition, in the Hunter Region Independent Schools Tournament, interstate in Brisbane at the August Invitational Tournament and also internationally in Auckland at the North New Zealand Conference Basketball Championships. Our teams have also played 16 consecutive years in the Australian School Championships.

We would like to extend an invitation for your Year 7-12 child to be part of our basketball training program, beginning 8 February. The program runs in both halves of the year and consists of a weekly training session. There will be a focus on basketball skills, strategy and teamwork.

Your child will have the opportunity to tryout to represent Avondale at the following tournaments*:

  • Hunter Region Independent Schools (HRIS)
  • Australian School Championships (Nationals)
  • Adventist Schools Sports Association Tournament (Seniors only)

There is a $50 registration non refundable fee per program and this will go towards training costs, breakfast, plus a Avondale School sports bag.

The training begins week 2. Schedule is as follows:

Boys

  • Year 7 - 9: Wednesday, 6:30-8am
  • Year 10 - 12: Tuesday, 6:30-8am

Girls

  • Year 7 - 9: Friday, 6:30-8am
  • Year 10 - 12: Tuesday, 6:30-8am

Students will have time to shower after training and breakfast is provided.

As a team we believe:

  • In working hard and playing hard
  • In loving the game and inspiring others to do likewise
  • In striving to be better today than we were yesterday
  • In improving individually as we grow stronger and better together
  • In being socially connected and supporting each other
  • In being our best selves on the court and in the classroom

All Year 7-12 students welcome! Registration close end of week 4, 25 February.

If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Miss Karlie Fraser at basketball@avondaleschool.nsw.edu.au
