Description

Do you think visually? Have you dreamed of telling stories through a visual medium? Then the AFTT 6 week Avid intensive is for you. Learning Avid will make any other editing software look null and void, it’s the industry standard and on the must list if you’re serious about editing. ‘Learning Avid will improve you as an editor, and as a story teller’

This workshop is designed to take students with or without prior knowledge of editing programs through the Avid Media Composer. It can be completed by students of any age or qualifications. The primary focus of this course is giving students an introduction to Avid, and editing concepts. The class is taught from the ground up, so that by the end of the course you’ll have the ability to edit a project using the Avid Media Composer.

The 6 week Avid Course will be taught by AFTT tutor Alicia Gleeson. "I have worked professionally as an Avid Editor and Assistant Editor for over 20 years with the majority of my projects having had significant International distribution. Notable among these are “The Thin Red Line” (Feature 1997) “Holy Smoke” (Feature 1998) “Farscape” (TV Series 1999) “Happy Feet” (Feature 2005) “Blood Diamond” (Feature 2006) and “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole” (Feature 2010).

I was head of department and sole Editor for “Animalia” from 2006-2008. This was a 40 x 24min Animated TV Series which was a CBC / CBBC / Porchlight Entertainment US and Burberry co-production which enjoyed distribution in North and South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Australia and India. I led a team of four assistants over an 18 month production and provided specialised training for my department in Animation and post-production methodologies.

Animalia was the winner of the Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Award in 2009 for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for our composer, Chris Elves."


*Classes will run from 6:00pm - 9:00pm each Thursday night (7/9, 14/9, 21/9, 28/9, 5/10, 12/10) for the 6 weeks.
*All courses will be held on campus at AFTT.
*This course must have a minimum of 8 students to run.
*The content is suitable for students aged 18+.
