Description

Justin Giddings, CEO of Avalon Airport will present a keynote on “What needs to happen to ensure growth at Avalon continues”.

In December 2018, Avalon Airport became Australia's newest International Airport; welcoming visitors from the region through Air Asia X, which now offers double daily return services via Kuala Lumpur. It signified a pivotal moment for Western Victoria, and the state more broadly, as it seeks broader and deeper engagement with burgeoning Asia.

Lat week the airport’s owner, Linfox, last month signed a memorandum of understanding with the Sovico Group, owner of Vietjet, that could pave the way for flights to Vietnam.

Vietjet would become the second international carrier to fly to Avalon after AirAsia X began flights last December.

Servicing one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, and on the doorstop of what will soon become Australia’s largest city, the growth of Avalon Airport will have far-reaching implications on all facets of Victorian life. It will impact transport and land-use planning, trade, tourism, as well as the need to be diligent in preserving the region’s natural beauty.

This event will seek to explore “What needs to happen to ensure growth at Avalon continues” and will focus on;

• an update on Air Asia X’s regional impact

• Avalon Airport’s ambitions out to 2030

• Avalon Airport’s position in an integrated transport and land-use plan for Victoria
