1) 5–8 years CAMO CREATURES [10.30am Tuesday, 7 April]
Work with artist Kathy Holowko to create a 3D creature using sculpture materials. Participants will think about their creature’s habitat and how it uses camouflage to hide. With a careful eye, we will choose colours and mix paint to create an excellent camouflage skin so the creature can blend in to its environment. The creature will disappear before your very eyes! Program ends at 12noon.

3) 5–8 years DIY VIEW-MASTER REELS [10.30am Thursday, 9 April]
In this workshop each child will design their own seven paneled mini story that can be viewed on a View-Master. Working with artist Emilie Walsh participants will storyboard a short narrative that can be drawn across the seven slides of the reel or simply experiment and play with colour, line and shape. The artist will bring her collection of View-Masters to use in the workshop or bring your own if you have one. Program ends at 12noon.

4) 7–14 years DIY VIEW-MASTER REELS [1pm Thursday, 9 April]
In this workshop each child will design their own seven paneled mini story that can be viewed on a View-Master. Share Autumn School Holiday Workshops at the Incinerator Gallery 2020

Event Details

A range of imaginative workshops inspired by art, exhibitions, architecture and natural environment are offered to children seeking a creative activity during the spring school holidays. Children work alongside professional artists or educators to imagine, make, create and express themselves.

Programs are adapted and designed for children aged either:

  • 5 to 8 years (with an accompanying adult carer, free) from 10.30am to 12pm, or;

  • 7 to 14 years (unaccompanied - parents need to complete an enrolment form when leaving their child) from 1pm to 3pm.

Bookings essential as class size is limited

FAQs

What should children wear to this program or event?

Children should wear an art smock or comfortable old clothes suitable for art and craft activities. Children may get paint or other indelible materials on their clothing.

 

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

These programs have been designed for children aged from 5 to 8 years of age (accompanied by their care giver) OR ages 7 to 14 (unaccompanied and must complete an enrolment form).

 

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

On site bike racks and car parking is provided. For public transport options see the PTV Journey planner.

 

What can I bring into the event?

You will need to bring bottled water or any personal items your child (or you) may require during this program. We prefer that children do not bring snacks. There will not be a snack break during the session.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

There is no need to bring your ticket. We will have a list of people who have purchased tickets.

 

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

It will be helpful for our planning if we know a little bit about the children attending. However, registrations can be updated to reflect a new ticket holder. In the case of their being any cancellations or changes to the program we will only contact the registered email address.

Incinerator Gallery

The Incinerator Gallery is the heart of visual art in Moonee Valley.

In the industrial spaces of the iconic Essendon Incinerator, audiences come together to participate in a range of arts activities.

The Gallery offers an extensive range of:

  • arts and culture presentations,
  • creative artmaking workshops,
  • specialist public programs,
  • free student education programs,
  • Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) teacher professional learning, and
  • children's school holiday workshops.

The Gallery is open 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Sunday during exhibition seasons. Check the website for dates.
