Autumn field day on a Victorian Volcanic Plain farm
Event Information
Description
Autumn field day
Integrating sheep grazing and native grassland management on the Victorian Volcanic Plain
The Victorian Volcanic Plain Biosphere Committee is working towards establishing a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve over the Victorian Volcanic Plain bioregion in Victoria. Our events are designed to raise the profile and appreciation of the critically endangered grasslands and grassy woodlands in the region.
For our next event, we invite you to join us for a day on a working farm in the Western District of the Victorian Volcanic Plains.
Roger Bellchambers, grazier and farmer in Mt Mercer, has generously offered to show us his farm and talk about how he protects the large areas of native grassland and riparian vegetation on the Leigh River while making a living out of grazing sheep.
More information
This event will be a walking tour. In the morning we will visit the western end of the property, then we'll stop for lunch. We'll then explore the eastern end and the Leigh River riparian zone after lunch.
The ticket price includes a BBQ lunch and a small donation to cover administrative costs.
If you need more information before purchasing a ticket, contact VVP Biosphere committee member Lincoln Kern on 0417 517 011.
We're keen to ensure that this event is affordable so that we don't exclude anyone from experiencing and learning about the beauty and values of the VVP. If for some reason the ticket price is an issue for you, please email us at vvpbiosphere@gmail.com and we'll do our best to find a way to accomodate you.
