Autumn equinox Harvest basket
Event Information
About this event
A perfect workshop to celebrate the Autumn equinox as we traditionally harvest the fruits of summer and prepare for the quieter more inward season of winter
During this four hour workshop you will learn the techniques required to create a one of a kind, sustainably crafted market basket. Learn which local materials are suitable for making frame baskets, how to form the frame of your basket, about hoops and ribs and which materials can be used to fill it. During this workshop we will be using a combination of foraged fibres including vines, split bamboo and banana bark.
The framed basket has a long history with the first images of the technique appearing in medieval manuscripts.
It remains a commonly made basket today because of it’s usefulness, it’s versatility and beauty
