Automating Finite Element Method via Firedrake: A fwd modelling workshop
Date and time
An opportunity to showcase the fwd modelling component of the G-Adopt platform and to provide training and support to Firedrake users in Oz.
About this event
We are delighted to announce that the first G-Adopt workshop will be held on April 28th – 29th, 2022, at the Australian National University.
This in-person workshop will provide an opportunity for the G-Adopt development team to showcase progress on the forward modelling component of this platform, using the Firedrake framework.
The aim of the workshop is to provide a background to the platform and training for potential users, thus facilitating community growth within Australia.
Although our focus will be on geodynamical application, we are keen to identify other research areas for future applicability. As such, there will be an opportunity for interested practitioners to engage with developers and other participants, to determine if their problems are tractable within Firedrake.

Sponsorship
$500 - $1,000 will be available towards travel and accommodation costs, per domestic PhD student. Support may also be available for domestic early career academics that do not have access to funds elsewhere. There is a finite pool of funding available and, hence, the final support provided will depend on the number of participants. Reimbursement will be arranged at the workshop.
