Event description

Description

Eating is an essential human activity, necessary for sustaining life and ensuring growth. However, children with Autism often experience feeding difficulties such as extremely restrictive eating patterns, dependence on supplemental feedings, distress and disruptive behaviours when presented with non-preferred food, and inability or refusal to self-feed. These difficulties can lead to negative medical and developmental outcomes, including growth delay, malnutrition, poor weight gain or significant weight loss, developmental and psychological deficits, poor academic performance, social difficulties or even death.

Dr Molina will present on common feeding challenges for children with Autism, why these may occur and the best-practice intervention model for feeding difficulties.

This workshop is suitable for Parents, Carers and Professionals.
