Autism inclusion in sport and recreation: a free pilot workshop
Event Information
Description
What is a 'pilot workshop?'
This pilot workshop aims to inform the design, delivery and content of an online module to support the inclusion of people with autism in a vareity of sport and active recreation activities. The online module aims to support a diverse range of people with autism including those with co-existing conditions such as ADHD, ID, CP etc.
What will be covered?
The workshop will cover a short history of autism internationally, prevalence, gender ratios, the impact that people with autism and their families have had in history, and strategies for inclusion in sport and recreation.
Who should attend?
The more diverse the audience the better the outcomes. The content presented will be beneficial to parents of children with autism, PE teachers and coaches.
Can't attend in person?
No worries, thanks to our friends at Reclink Victoria and AAAPlay this workshop will be streamed live. You can register and submit questions or desired learning outcomes in advance or just jump on the stream at 9am AEST at https://www.facebook.com/aaaplay/.
What is the cost?
There is no financial cost, the workshop is free. However, your 'cost' to register is that you answer 1 question, "what are the top 3 things you would like out of the workshop?" This will help us design the workshop in advance to meet your needs. As this is a free event there will be no catering, participants will be given a 30 minute break to enjoy some sun (hopefully) and seek out coffee.
You may also like to review current autism and sport resources to share what aspects you like and what can be improved. You may like to review the resources available from https://allplay.org.au/, https://www.elsforautism.org/, and https://aceingautism.org/.
