About this event

Research suggests that at least half of adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum are living with one or more mental health conditions.

But assessment and diagnosis of mental health conditions in people on the autism spectrum can be challenging due to diagnostic overshadowing, as can providing effective and tailored treatment and management options.

Delivered by a team of clinicians, in this training you will learn how to create services that are autism-friendly to help optimise outcomes for people on the spectrum living with mental health conditions.

Topics to be covered include:

  • An extension of knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and its functional impacts
  • Strategies to accommodate individual differences and improve outcomes
  • Key considerations for assessment and management of mental health for people on the autism spectrum
  • Case studies to apply knowledge and strategies

Presenters:

  • Davina Sanders (Clinical Psychologist)
  • Eloise Peacock (Speech Pathologist)
  • Dieu Tran (Occupational Therapist)
  • Sarah Christensen (Public Health)
  • Steffi-Louise Stackpoole (Consultant as a person on the autism spectrum)

Please note this workshop will be delivered by Zoom and is for Queensland-based GPs only.
