Event description
An evening talk with author and bushman John Blay at Moruya Library.

About this event

Come to Moruya Library for an evening talk with author and bushman John Blay and hear about his latest book Wild Nature: Walking Australia’s South East Forests (2020).John has spent 40 years exploring the forests around him on foot and celebrating nature in his writing. In Wild Nature John laces up his walking boots and goes bush to explore Australia’s rugged southeast forests in a great circle from his home in Bermagui.

In this compelling book John charts the forests' natural history, their Indigenous history, the first European incursions, the forest wars, the establishment of the South East Forests National Park, and the threats that continue to face their existence, including devastating bushfires.

"John Blay is a superb walking companion - a naturalist, historian and philosopher whose writing glows with wit, wisdom and wonder" - Tom Griffiths

Wild Nature completes a trilogy that began with Trek through the Back Country (1987) and On Track: Searching out the Bundian Way (2015) - a story of praise for the forests of Australia’s south east and how they have been used, abused and sometimes defended and preserved.

Copies of Wild Nature: Walking Australia's South East Forests Book will be available to purchase on the night.
