Winner of the Classical Music Rising Star Award at the inaugural 2015 London Music Awards, Australian-Taiwanese pianist Belle Chen is now bringing her unique style and talent to Australia’s High Court. As well as winning prizes and scholarships around the world, Belle was hand picked for the 2014 NOISE Festival Curator’s Choice for Music Award by Brian Eno, who described her music as “Original and provocative.” Belle's music has been featured on BBC China, Classic FM, ABC FM, 4MBS, Macroview TV Taiwan and Dateline TV Australia.
In this concert Belle will present Postcards from the Mediterranean, which takes the audience through a journey around the vibrant Mediterranean coast. From quirky, elegant works of French composers Ravel and Poulenc, the rhythmic dances of Spanish composers Mompou and Albeniz, to the exotic and mysterious work by Turkish composer Fazil Say, this programme will bring to life the kaleidoscopic cultures and sounds of the Mediterranean.
