Engage with Australia's first national Institute of Participatory Community Development (formally known as the Community Development Institute Initiative.)

In October 2025 the National Institute for Participatory Community Development will be launched at:

• Community Development Queensland Conference Port Douglas, Queensland
• Borderlands Community Development Conference Melbourne, Victoria

The birth of this organisation is an exciting new opportunity for practitioners from all sectors and from all parts of Australia, to build an institute that will hold in its heart, the practice of Participatory Community Development.

Australian Participatory Community Development Institute (APCDI) intends to strengthen and sustain the practice of community development within policy, practice, education and training, research and civil society development across many sectors.

In 2022, this Initiative was established by a group of Queensland citizens and practitioners based on a growing concern that there is no formal community development structure that can speak with authority about community development to government, universities, and other relevant parties. As a result of the wide range of interest shown across Australia, the initiative has grown into a National body.
