About this Event

The 2019 Defence Fuel Symposium will be held in Canberra on 31 October 2019 at Adams Auditorium, Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA).

An Operating Agent Working Group (OAWG) will be held the day before on 30 October 2019.

The theme of the 2019 Symposium is ' Innovation and Capability'. Fuel Services Branch are pleased to announce the Key Note Speaker for 2019 will be Richard De Crespigny, AM. As a former Royal Australian Air Force Pilot, Richard de Crespigny is credited with saving the lives of more than 460 passengers in November 2010, when one of four engines on the Qantas A380 he was flying exploded. His autobiography "QF32" is a bestseller and won the Best Non Fiction award in the 2013 Australian Book Industry Awards. In the 2016 Australian Day Honours, Richard de Crespigny was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to the aviation industry, particularly to flight safety and to the community. Richard de Crespigny's presentation will focus on crisis management, leadership, problem solving and teamwork and he will be warmly welcomed at the Fuel Symposium. Industry representatives and international guests will also be attending the Symposium.

A final program will be released closer to the date.
