Description

Australia Day Drama 98 mins MA15+

On a sunny Australia Day in the suburbs of Brisbane three young people are running for their lives. An indigenous girl fleeing a car crash is pursued by the police; an immigrant teenager wrongly accused of molesting a girl tries to escape her thuggish brother; a young Chinese woman who arrives to learn English realises she has been lured into sexual slavery. The pace never slackens as the three interweaving stories unfold. Popular actor Bryan Brown plays a farmer, with his own troubles, who comes to the aid of the Chinese girl. Smartly directed by Kriv Stenders (who made the hit Red Dog) this film examines the racism that lurks not far below the surface, demanding that we confront this aspect of national identity on our day of celebration.
