The Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology 5th Annual Scientific Meeting will be held in Adelaide on 25th and 26th October 2019.

About this Event

The Annual Scientific Meeting is open to pathologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, trainees in pathology and gastroenterology, researchers and medical students with an interest in gastrointestinal pathology. Advances in gastrointestinal pathology will be discussed, and problematic issues will be reviewed with the overall aim of providing a pragmatic approach to everyday diagnostic difficulties for the reporting pathologist.

Prof. Rish Pai

We are delighted to welcome Professor Rish Pai, a Consultant Pathologist and Professor of Pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Scottsdale, Arizona, who will discuss Barrett's oesophagus, biopsy interpretation of inflammatory bowel disease, familial colon cancer and an approach to gastrointestinal eosinophilia

Prof. Gregory Lauwers

We are also delighted to have Dr Gregory Lauwers, Senior Member in Anatomic Pathology at Moffitt Cancer Center and Professor, Oncologic Sciences and Pathology and Cell Biology at the University of South Florida, who will discuss topics including non-adenomatous dysplasia of the gastrointestinal tract and tropical gastrointestinal pathology.

Professor Rajvinder Singh

Professor Rajvinder Singh, Professor of Medicine from the University of Adelaide and Director of Gastroenterology at the Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals, will provide an update in endoscopic mucosal resections of the gastrointestinal tract.

Associate Professor Nam Q. Nguyen

Associate Professor Nam Q. Nguyen, Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional and EUS endoscopist from the Department of Gastroenterology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital will discuss endoscopic ultrasound guided biopsies within the gastrointestinal tract.

Selected topics in hepatic pathology will also be covered. Professor Andrew Clouston, Envoi Specialist Pathologists, Brisbane Qld will deliver a lecture on adult onset of bile transporter defects and small duct primary sclerosing cholangitis. A/Professor Bastiaan de Boer from PathWest in Perth, WA will talk on “Drug induced liver disease”.

In addition, a trainee poster prize will be held and a Liver pathology masterclass, presented by Dr Catriona McKenzie.

In addition, a range of highly regarded pathologists from Australasia will be speaking.
