Australasian Bat Nights - Walk & Talk at Yarra Bend
Join us to celebrate the inaugural Australasian Bat Night program with Yarra Bend’s superstars: the Grey Headed Flying Fox colony
About this event
Please join us to celebrate the inaugural Australasian Bat Night program with Yarra Bend’s superstars: the Grey Headed Flying Fox colony – the largest urban colony of Mega Bats in Australia!
Each year since 2012 throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia bat specialists have teamed up with the community to hold hundreds of bat events during March, April and May. Join this fantastic community event where we debunk the myths and fears associated with bats, learn about the crucial role that they play in our ecosystem and watch them fly out at sunset in their thousands.
Please meet your host Megan at the Bellbird Picnic Area Car Park and join her on a short stroll to the flying fox camp to discuss all things Mega-Bats. Participants have the option to stay on for the 'Fly-Out' when the bats take to the air just after sunset.
