Event description
AusFAC, the Australian arm of the Future Agro Challenge is bringing this unique pitch event to Byron Bay in the NSW Northern Rivers

About this Event

AusFAC is Australia’s only agriculture technology event with a direct connection to a global network of agtech entrepreneurs, investors, and clients.

Now in its fifth year, AusFAC is the Australian arm of the international Future Agro Challenge competition. Each year, six of Australia’s most promising up-and-coming agriculture technology innovators pitch their innovative solution to a 21st century food and farming challenge in a unique competition event.

AusFAC uses a unique format where competitors get to share their passion for their innovation. Rather than talking to a presentation, AusFAC competitors get to answer direct questions from our MC and judges, revealing not just their innovation but the passion behind it.AusFAC uses a unique format where competitors get to share their passion for their innovation. Rather than talking to a presentation, AusFAC competitors get to answer direct questions from our MC and judges, revealing not just their innovation but the passion behind it. In the heats, the six finalists compete in pairs, with the winner of each heat going head-to-head in the final pitch. The final pitch provides an opportunity for members of the audience to ask questions of competitors.

The 2021 AusFAC event will be held on 19th and 20th March in Northern Rivers NSW combining the pitch competition, informative presentations, industry visits and an opportunity to network with other agtech startups, investors and interested stakeholders from government and non-government sectors.

We kick off with Welcome Cocktails at Harvest Newrybar from 4pm Friday 19 March. Harvest is a multi-award winning restaurant that has embraced local produce and bushfoods. They'll be sharing their innovation for native foods with a local rainforest inspired cocktail while Northern Rivers agripreneurs Flow Hive share the story of their success, from innovation through to realisation. Learn how Flow Hive took the world by storm with their highly successful crowdfunding campaign and where that has taken them.

The main event will be held from 1pm Saturday 20 March at the Byron Community Centre in Jonson St Byron Bay. This event is a must see for agri-innovators and investors alike.

You'll see our competitors battle it out head to head in the heats as they show their passion for their product. Between the heats and final pitch, you'll hear from leading advisor to business on the future, strategy and innovation Steve Tighe and other startup and regenerative agriculture leaders, providing insight and innovation for the startup community. Stay for drinks on the balcony and networking while the judges make their final deliberations and announce the 2021 AusFAC winner.

The winner of the pitch competition will receive the opportunity to represent Australia at the Global Future Agro Challenge to compete for the International Agripreneur of the year in 2022.
