Warren Leigh

Dr Warren Leigh, MBChB, MMedsci (Distinction), FRACS

Warren Leigh is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who practices in Auckland. He works at Orthosports based at the Millennium Institute of Sport and Health on the North Shore. Warren’s specific interest is in sports orthopaedic surgery and he performs arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee and shoulder. He is also a knee arthroplasty and spine surgeon.

Dr Leigh graduated from the University of Auckland in 2001 and completed the NZ Orthopaedic training scheme in 2010. Warren was awarded the Richard Stewart Research Scholarship to undertake Orthopaedic research at the University of Otago, gaining a Masters of Medical Science (Distinction) in 2006. He also has a Diploma of Sports Medicine from the University of Auckland (2005).

Warren undertook four fellowships in Auckland, Melbourne and Adelaide in Sports Surgery, Hip Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Spine Surgery. Returning to NZ in 2013, he joined Dr Mat Brick, founder of Orthosports. Current research interests are the New Zealand Rotator Cuff Registry, ACL injuries and reconstruction techniques, hip arthroscopy and the use of PRP for the management of sports injuries.

Warren has been awarded the Latin American Society of Knee Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine (SLARD) Sports Medicine and Knee Travelling Fellowship in 2015 and was the NZOA ASEAN travelling fellowship to Asia in 2017.

David Cooper

David Cooper, BHSc Physio, PGDip Musculo.

David Cooper is a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Auckland. David is the owner and principal of Kinetics, a clinic that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions. In addition to consulting across a wide range of high level sports, David has a special interest in surgical rehabilitation. David is a post-surgical consultant with Dr Warren Leigh and is developing protocols in pre and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Professor Jim Richards

Professor Jim Richards

Professor Richards’ research includes much work on clinical application of biomechanics, the development of new assessment tools for chronic disease, conservative and surgical management of orthopaedic and neurological conditions, and development of evidence based approaches for improving clinical management and rehabilitation. The focus of Professor Richards’ work is to encourage inter-professional research and to develop direct parallels with research to the ‘real world’ of allied health work.

Mr Cliff Eaton

Cliff Eaton | MSc BSc (Hons) MCSP

Cliff Eaton has spent his career working in professional sport at an elite level. He has been published in internationally recognised Journals on Sport Specific Rehabilitation. Cliff believes in three core skills advocated by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists: Manual Therapy, Exercise Therapy and Electrotherapy, combined to provide the best care management for patients. Cliff will discuss anecdotal evidence and contemporaneous clinical research to support the use of Shockwave Therapy for Tendinopathies and Neuromuscular Electrical Simulation for ACL Rehab.
