In recent years, the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has received an enormous surge of attention in scientific literature and the media. Researchers estimate 3-5 percent of school children in the United States have been diagnosed with ADHD. Clinicians have had to increase their education and skill in the nature, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD. Parents of children diagnosed with ADHD are challenged to deal with the stigma and problem-focus that has become prevalent in educational and mental-health treatment systems. They are often confronted with contradictory and confusing information.
