Event description
ATMS Natural Medicine Awards Gala Dinner

About this Event

ATMS extends a huge congratulations to all the finalists in our annual Natural Medicine Awards – 2020 has been a tough year for all our practitioners and we are thrilled to highlight these practitioners and small businesses!

Twelve finalists – four from each category – have been selected for Practitioner of the Year, Clinic of the Year and Student of the Year. All nominees demonstrated excellence in their contributions to their professions, industry, and overall commitment to the advancement of the health of the Australian community.

Winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner, on the eve of the AGM, to be held in Sydney on Saturday 14 November.

Special thanks to all those who entered or nominated in the awards. The high calibre and volume of entries was impressive, and we applaud the efforts of every single entrant for their contribution to natural medicine in Australia.

Celebrate with your fellow practitioners and industry at the Awards Gala Dinner, hear from keynote speaker Monique Lewis and meet your ATMS Board members, CEO and President, before the AGM.

This occasion is always a great night to recognise the hard work and dedicated Clinics, Practitioners and rising star Students in our industry.

Anti-CAM lobbyists: Protecting the citizens or running a misinformation campaign?

Monique Lewis PhD, BA(Hons) is a communications scholar, sociologist and lecturer in media and communication at Griffith University. Her research spans across media, health & medicine, and risk sociologies, with a particular interest in herbal medicine, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and medicinal cannabis. Her investigations have focused on news and biomedical media representations of herbal medicine and CAM, as well as exploring how risk is constructed in these representations by a range of different interest groups. Her more recent research has investigated the de-legitimisation of CAM in news media stories, as well as analysing how medicinal cannabis is being framed in biomedical professional journals. Monique teaches health and science communication, communication ethics, and public writing for the Bachelor of Communication and Journalism program at Griffith. She is currently leading an edited collection (being published by Palgrave Macmillan) titled ‘Communicating COVID-19’, with contributors from around the world.
