Event Information
Description
The Bass Coast Landcare Network have joined up with the Victorian Gorse Taskforce and the Atlas of Living Australia to bring you this informative presentation by Peter Brenton of the CSIRO, discussing how you can become involved with the Atlas of Living Australia (ALA).
The ALA is a collaborative, national project that brings together biodiversity data from multiple sources and makes it freely available and usable online. It can be used to record presence of native plants and animals, as well as weeds and pest animals, and is an important tool in conserving natural habitats.
The workshop will be an interactive session about how to use the ALA in the field. This session will be of interest for those individuals, groups and contractors who need to map the occurrence of native or exotic plants or animals and/or have a database for their environmental monitoring data, and for the public who want to contribute through citizen science.
If you have any questions please contact Robbie Gray, on phone: 5678 2335 or email: robbie.gray@basscoastlandcare.org.au
Presenter Profile
Peter Brenton is based with the CSIRO in Canberra and has worked with the Atlas of Living Australia since 2009. He is particularly interested in making the efforts of citizen scientists and the data which they collect more visible, relevant and accessible in areas where they can have great impact.
