Nestled in at the base of the powerful and majestic Gulaga Mountain, amongst the rolling green hills and landscapes that appease the eye, and soothe the soul; Mountain View Farm provides us with everything we need to escape the hustle and bustle of city living.

Oozing charm and character, Mountain View is a truly unique and special place.  Photographs can only capture so much - the essence and wonderful energy of Gulaga can only be fully experienced in person, to feel the calming and peaceful presence that envelopes us and the beautiful surrounds that feed us.

A place to relax, enjoy time in nature, with direct access to the stunning Gulaga hiking trail, in the Gulaga NP where we will spend a day adventuring and learning about nature, sacred aboriginal healing and ceremonies.

Gulaga and her surrounding landscape have great spiritual significance to local Yuin people. She is a women's mountain; the place where all things begin, where knowledge is gained and healing found. She is the spiritual mother who demands both fear and respect.

Aboriginal guides tell the mysteries and stories that belong to this impressive sacred site and we will be lucky to share the Friday evening with Lynne Thomas, a local aboriginal and guide who will share stories, teachings and teach us aboriginal song around the camp fire.

Here's a peak of what to expect: 

Friday:

  • A delightful and scenic 2.65km afternoon walk around the foothills of Central Tilba called the Bellbrook Farm Loop (warm up hike).
  • An evening with Lynne Thomas; Traditional stories, teachings and song around the fire.
  • A yummy, home-cooked nutritious dinner to prepare us for our big day Saturday (wine and baileys available)

Saturday: 

  • An outdoor stretch session (it's a great way to get our bodies moving, warm and ready for our big day out on the trails).
  • Nutritious healthy breakfast together at the Dairy Shed.
  • A 12-15km stunning, hike up Gulaga Mt accompanied by Lynne Thomas, who will take us to a sacred site on Gulaga that consists of magnificent boulders and an incredible energy, where sacred ceremonies are held. We will be welcomed and blessed in the traditional way. Couple this with rainforests, lush vegetation, a fun, challenging and rewarding climb in the company of like minded people, this will be a day to remember.
  • A lazy afternoon with locally sourced Tilba Tilba cheese and wine enjoying the beautiful property and landscape surrounding us.
  • 2 Course Dinner at Dromedary Hotel (wine included).

Sunday: 

  • An outdoor stretch session.
  • Nutritious and yummy breakfast at the Dairy Shed.
  • A stunning and short 1.5 - 2km active recovery walk:  Horse Head Rock via Camel Rock an Wallaga Lake.
  • Debrief over morning tea and cuppa's before heading home

Accomodation Options: 

3 x Tent House's (single or twin share) 

PLEASE ADVISE ME IF YOU WISH TO TWIN-SHARE A TENT - I CAN ONLY ADD 1 BOOKING RESERVATION BUTTON - ADJUSTMENTS CAN BE MADE.

The Tent House's are a large safari style tent with a comfortable queen size bed and gorgeous surrounds.

A stay at The Tent House includes linen and towels, a personal fire pit, an esky, a picnic basket, a small gas cooker and access to our common area The Dairy Shed with a brand-new amenity block (toilet and shower), plus fridge, BBQ, TV, wi-fi, kitchen utensils etc.

The Dolphin Cottage (share accomodation 2-3 people) You must be prepared to share accomodation .

The Dolphin Cottage is very special and a perfect digital detox getaway. Its enviable location means that there is limited reception but there are amazing views, unlimited peace and quiet, and a private outdoor bath tub in the

It includes a full kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, fridge) and laundry facilities, bathroom and separate toilet and a bonus fold out futon in the lounge area. The Dolphin Cottage also has its own contained yard and a private bath tub and outdoor shower.

There is a queen size bed in one bedroom, and double bed fold out in the lounge area.

The Studio (twin-share) You must be prepared to share accomodation .

The size of a tiny house but with high ceilings and room to move, The Studio is a spacious, light filled, open plan apartment-style room design.

There is a queen sized bed and a fold out sofa - comfortably sleeps 2 people.

The Studio includes an under-bench fridge, in bench stove and mini-oven, microwave and adaptable bench/table top.

The bathroom is open plan and the french doors give wonderful views to Gulaga and open to a sun-filled patio area.

Common Area

The Old Dairy is at the heart of the accommodations, views and history. With a range of outdoor and undercover seating, and wi-fi access, guests can relax, read, slow down and take in the panorama.

This is where we will meet for dinner, stretch sessions, our evening with Lynne, breakfast, our arvo of relaxing with cheese and wine and much more...

Group Size: 13 max (based on share options) 

COST: $790 per person (all inclusive as per itinerary) share prices.

COST: $750 per person if you choose to twin-share a Tent House

Deposit: $200

Full amount needs to be paid by Wednesday 25th November 2020.

What age is this event for?

18yrs and over

What is the walking pace?

We will be hiking at a slower moderate pace, catering for everyone, being mindful of different fitness levels & efforts involved, not rushing to finish, taking care to respect each other. Hiking together, we believe in a group, is the same as being in a team, we make sure all hikers in our group are together keeping each other well supported & safe.

What happens if I wish to walk faster than the group?

We do understand that everyone walks at different paces, this is a moderate hike, but some will find it a hard hike. If you are walking faster & way ahead of the group you are missing out on what ATICA Wilderness Adventures is all about; you are missing out on the enriching life experience with your group. If your guide can not see you, you are out of safe supervising range & in a remote area this is dangerous to the group of hikers. Unfortunately we can not take any responsibility for you. It is best to stay within range of our group.

Who is this hike suitable for?

This hike is suitable for those with reasonable fitness training / intermediate  hiking experience and is not suitable for beginners.

If you have hiked with ATICA before, you'll be fine. But please reach out to me if you have any questions.

What is the Grade?

This is a grade 3-4 moderate to hard hike due to distance and track steepness.

We will take our time, there is no rush. We are here to experience nature in all her glory, Gulaga's healing presence and energy, and to learn!

What size backpack do I need?

Each person will carry only a day pack ( carrying your snacks, water & lunch & personal meds )

Is there any mobile phone reception?

There is very little to no phone reception in the valley and park when hiking. You may have unreliable reception at Mountain View if you have 4G with Telstra ( not guaranteed ) but there is wifi available at the Dairy Shed and in some of the cottages/accomodations.

Do I need to bring alcohol?

Wine is included with dinner & nibbles. We suggest not drinking too much on Friday as you have a 15km - 6 + hr mountain climb the next morning. If anything, maybe just a splash of baileys in our hot chocolates while we sit around the fire.

If you have a special preference of wine or champagne, bring a bottle if you wish.

What if I have dietary requirements?

No problem. we cater for vegan, keto, vegetarian & gluten free diets. Let us know once you have booked your ticket.

What happens if there is an emergency?

Your professional guide is trained in Remote area first aid. Your guide will carry a first aid kit, have a PLB registered with emergency services.

What is the type of accommodation?

Our Mountain View Farm cottages, tents, and studio are suitable for those who want their own space, or there are options available for those who want to or are happy to share.  Most rooms have an ensuite bathroom.There is also another newly renovated bathroom available at the common area for those are staying in the Tent Houses.

Do I need to bring linen?

No - Linen, bedding and towels are provided.

You Need To Bring: 

  • 2 - 3ltr water bladder or bottles
  • Extra Snacks - (we do provide all meals)
  • Day Pack
  • Hydralyte or Sports Drink
  • Comfortable Hiking or Trail Shoes and good merino wool or similar socks (socks are the difference between a good foot day and a really bad one)
  • Poles (optional but advisable)
  • Personal Meds
  • Blistex or Bandaids for blisters
  • Camera
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunhat
  • Insect repellant
  • Phone & Charger or Power Pack
  • Toiletries
  • Warm Layers it can still become quite cold at night in the valley, but temps can be nice and warm during the day.
  • Rain Jacket - ( event is on in the rain )
  • Swimwear and beach towel if you're keen to have a beach swim on the Sunday morning.
  • Yoga mat (there will be some available to purchase for $30)

ATICA Wilderness Adventures practices safe social distancing & follows the COVID 19 health guidelines set out by the ACT Government.

REFUND POLICY: T&C's apply

As our adventures are in the outdoors we have contingencies in place for severe weather & track conditions. ATICA's group safety is our priority.

***In the event of severe weather, dangerous conditions, bushfire or NPWS bush track closures due to total fire bans, we reserve the right to amend our event for the safety of our participants.

If we are unable to offer a similar itinerary or need to postpone due to the conditions above, you will be offered an alternative date if you are unable to attend that alternate date you will be given a full refund***

We provide a refund less $195 admin & permit fee up to 20 days before event, a refund of 50% of the amount will be given up to 10 days before event. There is no refund given with less than 7 days notice before event. This is due to catering, accommodation fees & permits which are non-refundable from our end. You can  however give / transfer your ticket to a friend.
