Description

Join Jay Evans and DCW for this Astro Photography event at the beautiful Lincoln's Rock, Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains. Meet us at Penrith and join our bus from there.

We will be on-site at 5:00pm for sunset and will shoot up to 10PM. This will ensure plenty of time to capture a Milky Way Panorama, various other compositions, get specialised tuition from Jay and shoot some star trails.

This event will be strictly capped to 14 attendees so you can be sure of quality one on one tuition from Jay and the DCW Team over the 5 hours of shooting time.

Gear Requirements

Requirements for astro include a DSLR or mirrorless camera with time shooting & bulb mode.

  • MOST IMPORTANT - Working Headlamp or torch (no mobile phone torches please!)
  • A camera with Manual controls and interchangeable lenses
  • Lenses suitable for astrophotography (between 12mm & 24mm preferably with f/2.8 or faster)
  • Remote shutter for camera
  • Sturdy Tripod
  • A small towel to cover your camera
  • Warm Layered clothing, a winter jacket, gloves, beanie or other warm headwear, and warm socks/shoes or boots
  • A water bottle
  • Dress for the conditions Temperatures will drop significantly overnight and you must be prepared to stand in the cold by wearing winter clothing, warm layers, a winter jacket, gloves, beanie and thermals if you require them.

JAY EVANS BIOGRAPHY
My name is Jay Evans and I am a Nightscape and Landscape Photographer, Tour Guide and Educator based in the Blue Mountains. For the past few years, my main interest has been in running tours and workshops across Australia, predominantly with AstroWorkshops, teaching our clients how to capture the Milky Way and stars at some superlative and iconic Australian locations. I am an accredited Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Tour Guide and hold a commercial tour operator license with Uluru and Northern Territory Parks.

I am also the Administrator of the Night & Astro photography group on Facebook with years of experience running astro events in dark sky locations around New South Wales.
