Description

Associate Professor Phillip Dawson presents two post-symposium workshops:

Designing assessment with the Assessment Design Decisions framework

10am-Noon Qld time, room B6.25, Gold Coast

In this interactive workshop you will work through the Assessment Design Decisions framework and (re)design your assessment. The ADD framework has been developed from a national OLT project that explored the gritty ‘chalkface’ realities of everyday university assessment, and connected them to rigorous assessment evidence and expertise. Workshop facilitator Associate Professor Phillip (Phill) Dawson was co-lead of the Assessment Design Decisions project. You can access extensive resources on assessment design at the project website assessmentdecisions.org

Designing better feedback processes

1pm-3pm Qld time, room B6.25, Gold Coast

Feedback is one of the strongest influences on student learning. However, students routinely tell their universities that they are unhappy with feedback, and staff often complain that students don’t act on feedback. Recent research suggests that tackling these long-standing feedback problems requires us to shift our focus from giving better feedback comments, to designing better feedback processes. In this workshop you will analyse your current feedback processes and identify areas for improvement based on ideas from colleagues, the research literature and the current OLT-funded Feedback for Learning project.

You can choose to register to attend either or both workshops.
