Event description

Description

This training session is designed for council managers and officers who assess development applications for medium/high density residential developments to ensure safe and efficient waste collection and recovery of resources.

A key priority of many councils is to address the rapid residential growth in the region, and to upskill council staff to address this challenge. It is identified that there is a skill and knowledge shortage in this area. WSROC partnered with SSROC in 2018 to develop a training program to improve skills for assessing waste requirements in development applications. WSROC, in partnership with the NSW EPA will be repeating this training for council staff on Wednesday 28th November 2018.

The one-day session will cover the planning framework, best practice waste infrastructure, EPA’s Better Practice Guide, pre-assessment tools, Waste Management Plans; Assessing Development Applications; Post-assessment controls and a panel discussion. There will be hands-on activities and Q and A.

For more information, please contact Amanda Bombaci at WSROC on amanda@wsroc.com.au.

This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the Waste Levy.
