Astronomy Highlights 2021
by Joe Grida, ASSA Technical Information Officer
As we start a new year, and indeed a new decade, we always look forward to the astronomical highlights each year. Come along or tune in to our live broadcast to discover what to look out for in our southern skies in 2021.
Introduction to the ASSA Special Interest Groups
by the SIG Leads
The Society has maintained a number of Special Interest Groups (SIG) over the years. The groups continue to evolve and we currently have four SIGs – Comets, Occultations, Meteors and Asteroids (COMA) lead by Joe Grida, Variable Stars lead by Robert Jenkins, Radio Astronomy lead by Blair Lade, and Astro-Imaging lead by Sarah Longcor. Each lead will briefly describe their SIG, talk about their activities and how they function, and show some examples of their work.
Entry to the lecture theatre will be available once the Astronomy Education event has concluded and the theatre has been emptied and cleaned. You will need to obtain a separate ticket to attend the Astronomy Education event.
