An update on ASIC's Data Journey!

"Big data is not a fad; we are just at the beginning of a revolution that will touch every business and every life on this planet!" (Bernard Marr, Forbes.com Sept 2015).

ASIC too is being impacted in many ways by this data revolution. Investments in technology as well as an expanding remit over recent years means ASIC is collecting, managing and sharing more data via an array of online platforms, portals, registers and other repositories. Associated with this, there is increasing scrutiny in the form of legislative requirements as well as expectations from our regulated population in terms of what data and information we ask them for and why, what we collect, store, re-use and dispose of.

Not only are organisations grappling with cyber threats and ensuring privacy is protected. Many organisations that are heavily data reliant also face challenges in avoiding duplication in their data collection and storage, as well as potential criticism for collecting data and information that is either under-utilised, or in a worst-case scenario, not used at all.

John Wallace, ASIC's Chief Data Officer will speak about ASIC's Data Strategy and the drive to be a more data driven and intelligence led organisation.
