This seminar is designed for businesses starting out on the export journey and those looking to consolidate their export knowledge, the seminar will provide expert tips on boosting your export capabilities in ASEAN markets. The seminar will cover:

  • A welcome by the NSW Government

  • Overview on ASEAN markets

  • Tips on doing businesses in ASEAN markets

  • An export panel discussion featuring case studies in the ASEAN markets

With a population of more than 600 million and a collective GDP of $US2.5 trillion, the Association of South East Asian Nations now attracts more global foreign direct investment than China in markets beyond the traditional focus on Singapore and Malaysia. The expert speakers will discuss what regional integration under the new ASEAN Economic Community means for Australia and Australian businesses.

Expert speakers:

  • Gerard Ho, Director-General ASEAN Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore
    Mr Ho was appointed First Secretary (Political) in Singapore’s High Commission to Kuala Lumpur from January 2004 to July 2007. Upon his return to Ministry Headquarters, Mr Ho served as Deputy Director in the International Organisations Directorate from August 2007 to August 2008, and then in the Southeast Asia Directorate from June 2009 to September 2009. Prior to taking up his current appointment, Mr Ho was Deputy Chief of Mission in Singapore’s Embassy in Jakarta from February 2010 to December 2014.

  • Mercy Simorangkir, Director, NSW Trade & Investment – Indonesia
    Mercy Simorangkir is the Director, NSW Trade & Investment for Indonesia based in Jakarta. Mercy works towards growing NSW trade and investment with Indonesia with a focus on the sectors of infrastructure and sustainable urban development, innovation and technology and education and training.

  • Cherriyln Neo, Director, NSW Trade & Investment – Singapore
    Cherriyln Neo is the Director, NSW Trade & Investment in Singapore, dedicated to growing NSW business with Singapore. Sectors of focus for NSW in Singapore are infrastructure investment, ICT/healthcare/fintech investment, and healthcare and financial services export.

  • Chelsea Dunne, Co-Founder, Fincast
    After 15 years’ working in business development roles in large corporates across Australia and Europe, in 2015 Chelsea decided it was time to focus on her long held desire to be an entrepreneur. Along with her husband, Andrew, she set out to create Fincast, a fintech company that creates applications for Financial Advisers to use with their clients, to help them work more efficiently and effectively. Today Fincast’s clients including financial institutions, advisory groups and boutique investment houses in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
