Event description

Description

This one day course is suitable for specialist art teachers, and will offer an exciting programme for developing your figurative painting and drawing skills, independently of observable references or photographed images.

We will explore the potential for figurative work using random, accidental and natural marks. This will give you the opportunity to reassess your own drawing ability and find new possibilities for yourself and your students.

This is not a ‘tips for teachers’ workshop nor a quick fix, but a way of using the recourses of seemingly lost memories and experience, in making a painting or drawing.

You will reeceive a booklet and reproductions of Bob Booth's work to take home as well as brunch, and tea and coffee throughout the day. You will also get a certificate that can be used for TRB professional learning requirements. Parking is free.

About the Facilitator Bob Booth

Bob Booth was born in Lincolnshire England 1948 and took a great interest in art from childhood. He studied graphic, and fine art in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire England. Following his studies, he spent seven years as the Fine art teacher in a Lancashire high school. After leaving teaching he was ordained in the Church of England 1982 and migrated to Australia in 1988. Once he retired from parish commitments, Bob devoted his time to painting. He is currently a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts.

Since becoming a professional artist, Bob has run workshops in conjunction with the Mandorla Religious Art Prize including professional development for art teachers. He has also facilitated numerous art workshops and demonstrations, and published an article on his painting technique in Artist and Illustrator UK.

During my teaching years, I experimented with programs that explored the creative process and methods of assessment that were less subjective.
