Event description

Description

TLF Creative is a new initiative that is aimed at introducing the creative arts into the legal profession. Having successfully launched in the Banco Court in March 2019, its first project, the Brisbane Law Orchestra or ‘Lawchestra’ is now underway and rehearses fortnightly at the Old Museum Building in Bowen Hills.

With the ‘Lawchestra’ now underway, TLF Creative is now pleased to invite you to our first panel event on arts, law and life. Hosted at Law Society House by our supporter Queensland Law Society, our panel event will bring together legal professionals who have achieved success both in their legal careers and their artistic pursuits.

Our panellists will discuss the relationship between arts and mental health, how they have managed to balance their legal careers with their artistic interests and the value of the arts to their lives. After the panel, guests will be given the opportunity to mingle and network.

The panel will be hosted by Petrina Macpherson, Senior Associate at Minter Ellison and Part Time Comedian.

Our panellists will include:

  • Clarissa Rayward, Director, Brisbane Family Law Centre and founder of the ‘Happy Lawyer, Happy Life’ venture.
  • Fiona Kennedy, Principal Solicitor, Delaney & Delaney and Company director, actress and director of ‘Ad Astra’ theatre company.
  • Matthew Hickey, Barrister, Level Twenty Seven Chambers and former professional opera singer.
  • Her Honour Justice Philippides of the Queensland Court of Appeal (founding patron of TLF Creative).

The night will also include a short performance featuring talented musicians from the Brisbane Lawchestra.

Please arrive at 6pm for a 6:30pm start. Tea and coffee will be provided. We will be collecting gold coin donations to go towards Minds Count, a charity aimed at decreasing work related psychological ill-health in the legal community and promoting workplace psychological health and safety. More information about Minds Count is available here: https://mindscount.org/

There will be photography at the event. Please let us know if you do not wish to be photographed.

TLF Creative is proudly supported by:

  • Her Honour Justice Philippides of the Queensland Court of Appeal as its founding patron;
  • Queensland Law Society;
  • Cooper Grace Ward Lawyers; and
  • Irish Bentley Lawyers.

We look forward to seeing you there.
