The Rotary Club of Appin Park Wangaratta is pleased to invite artists to enter the 43rd Wangaratta Art Show and Sale, to be held from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 October 2016 in Wangaratta, Northeast Victoria. Registrations for artists to participate must be received by 14 October 2016. This event coincides with the Wangaratta Festive of Jazz and Blues, one of Australia's best music festivals.

Categories and prizes
Thanks to our very generous sponsors we have a total prize pool of $7,500. We greatly appreciate the support of Pentarch Industrial, Wangaratta Motor Group, Fitweld Engineering, R & M Gibb, The Regional Development Company, and Garry Nash & Co. We also value our participating artists as the quality of the entries has helped grow this into a major regional art show.
- Section A: Oil or acrylic painting: $3,000 prize, sponsored by Pentarch Industrial
- Section B: Watercolour or gouache painting: $1,500, prize, sponsored by Wangaratta Motor Group
- Section C: Pastel painting: $1,000 prize, sponsored by Wangaratta Motor Group (acquisitive)
- Section D: Work in any two-dimensional medium (other than categories A, B, C and E) ie. collage, textiles etc. and not to exceed 1m square: $500 prize sponsored by Fitweld Engineering
- Section E: Drawing or artist’s print: $500 prize, sponsored by R & M Gibb
- Section F: Painting, drawing or print of some aspect of North East Victoria: $500 prize, sponsored by The Regional Development Company
- Section G: Black and white photography: $500 prize, sponsored by Garry Nash & Co
Exhibition opening hours:
- Friday 28 October, 10am to 5pm
- Saturday 29 October, 10am to 5pm
- Sunday 30 October, 10am to 5pm
The show is held at the Uniting Church Hall, 10 Rowan Street, Wangaratta.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I deliver my works?
Each work must be ready to hang commercially, with name and address and section entered and title clearly lettered and fixed to the back of the entry. Any transport and insurance costs must be met by the artist. All possible care will be taken but no liability will be accepted by the organisers for any loss or damage to works of art. If there is insufficient space to hang all entries, the organisers reserve the right not to display some entries. However, all entries will be included in the judging.
Works are to be delivered between the hours of 10am and 4pm on Monday 24th October or Tuesday 25th October 2016 to the Uniting Church Hall, 10 Rowan Street, Wangaratta. Return of unsold works?
Unsold works must be collected from the art show on Monday 31 October 2016 between 9.00am and 1.00pm.
Please note that it is the artists’ responsibility to follow up with couriers and ensure that work is delivered on time and collected and returned to the artist if unsold.
When do entries close?
Entries close 6pm on Friday, 14 October 2016. Artists must pay their entry fee via this Eventbrite site ($10 exhibitor’s fee per item must be paid prior to exhibit).
Can I attend the Gala Opening from 6pm on Thursday 27 October?
The Art Show prize winners will be announced by our Judge, Mr Ern Trembath, at 7.30pm at the Gala Opening on Thursday 27 October. Artists are most welcome to attend, and will need to purchase a ticket here.
What if I win a prize?
We are not able to pay via cheque. All prize money or proceeds from exhibit sales will be paid electronically. Please provide banking details on your registration form.
How many pieces can I enter?
A maximum of five entries is permitted per artist.
Are all entries for sale?
All works entered for the exhibition must be for sale. Category C acquisitive winning painting is retained by the sponsor and will not be available for sale. All sale prices must include GST (where the artist is GST registered) and an inclusive 25% commission applies.
Anything else I should know?
Work entered may be reproduced by any form of the media (including the printed catalogue) for publicity purposes only. Artists may be asked for interviews from local newspapers. All care will be taken but no responsibility will be accepted for loss or damage to any work.
