About Lesley Kendall

Lesley Kendall works from a studio in Brisbane, Australia.

Les works with a range of mediums - watercolour, mixed media, mono-prints, ceramic and glass. Inspired by the natural world, she creates art works from what she sees around her .

Les paints from life - objects are picked up on daily walks or discovered in the garden and taken back to the studio to paint . Painting, writing and walking in nature are quiet times of reflection. Through the art making process her connection with nature is deepened.

As the artist in residence at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Les will use the botanical garden as her inspiration for the year. The experience will be recorded in the blog found on this website.

“‘rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.’”— John Lubbock, The Use of Life
