We are trialling something new! Join us for our free Art Play Date pilot program, designed for children aged 1 to 3. Art Play Date is a fun introduction to art for toddlers using song, movement and sensory play. Each 45 minute session explores a single artwork in the Gallery’s Collection with a focus on elements such as colour, texture, sound and movement. This program is suitable for children from one year of age until their third birthday. During our first program, participants will discover Work No. 189 by Martin Creed and explore the theme of sound. When Art Play Date is a free program scheduled on Thursday 7, Wednesday 13 and 20 November 2019. Capacity is limited and bookings are essential. To allow as many families as possible to participate, only one session per family may be booked. Where This program is located at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). How to find us Parking is available at the Cultural Centre Precinct car parks subject to availability and we recommend arriving early to give yourself enough time to find a carpark. Bus, train and CityCat stops are within walking distance of the Gallery. Advisory note Work No. 189 is located in proximity of an artwork containing nudity. Parental discretion is advised.
About this event
Each session explores a couple of artworks in the Gallery’s Collection with a focus on sensory elements, such as colour, texture or sound. During the program, the Art Play Date facilitator takes families on an interactive tour through the Gallery while encouraging children to engage with artworks using song and movement.
The June – August 2021 program will explore lines and shapes by looking at selected artworks in the Australian Collection, followed by a short storytelling inspired by the program themes.
