Real-life encounters with art after-hours for teens

About this Event

It’s a Teen Takeover Saturday 7 December 6.00 - 9.00 pm, as the National Gallery launches Art IRL ('in real life'), a new program connecting young audiences with art, artists and each other.

Totally free and exclusively for teens aged 13 – 18 years, Art IRL: Teen Takeover boasts an out-of-this-world program co-produced by teens for teens and inspired by the art and ideas that shape our exhibitions.

Expect real-life encounters with art as you enjoy workshops, dance, circus, performance, live music, snacks and social activities responding to real life issues. Then, become a VIP as you make some noise alongside hundreds of other teens and the nation’s best arts and youth organisations including:

Australian War Memorial, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Canberra Youth Theatre, Canberra Glassworks, Girls Rock! Canberra, Headspace, National Film and Sound Archive, National Museum Australia, National Portrait Gallery, Questacon, QL2 Dance, the Royal Australian Mint, University of Canberra and more!

Art IRL: Teen Takeover is parent and teacher free, supported by Gallery staff, hosts and artist-educators, presented free thanks to the generosity of Tim Fairfax.

All free tickets are subject to Terms & Conditions.
