About this event

Art in the Afternoons is back again for Term 2!

Now supported by the State Government of Western Australia and Lotterywest ,Canning Libraries is excited to bring you another Term of FREE community art.

Come and try something NEW, have some FUN, MEET new people and RELEASE your stress and tension with our FREE mid- week art in the afternoon sessions

Hosted by award-winning Western Australian artist, Tanya Montgomery, come and discover new art-making techniques.

These drop-in workshops are open to artists and amateurs alike and suitable for those 16 years and over. Just bring yourself and your imagination - All material is provided.

Sessions are run weekly from 4-6pm at Riverton Library (The Studio), commencing Wednesday 21st of April 2021.

Please note :that by attending the session you agree to allow us to take digital images of the work that you produce.

21/4 Silly Drawing

Various drawing mediums Invite the whimsical into your art. This session will reveal ways that we can make confident drawings using a range of fun speedy techniques.

28/4 Arty Party

Acrylic and oil pastel. Celebrate colour and pattern in this workshop that will be a visual feast!

5/5 Urban Jungle

Learn key principles of composition in this daring workshop where we will create jungley floral illustrations from cut hand-made papers.

12/5 Calm with Yarn

Upcycled yarn made from t-shirt fabric Bring along an old, disused cotton t-shirt as donation. Bright coloured shirts are best. Participants will learn how to reuse the jersey fabric to make a ball of yarn. Then enjoy a relaxed afternoon of giant weaving to contribute to our community production.

Sharpen your mind and set some clear goals to keep your artistic development on track. This fun session will see participant each make an advent-style calendar that will invite you to nurture your creative development and reward success.
