SOLD OUT Art in the Afternoon: Cyanotype Art Journal

By Hurstville Museum & Gallery

Overview

Over three sessions, create a cyanotype and mixed media artist journal.

Join artist Marina Mavritsky for an inspiring three-part artmaking series that celebrates nature, light, and creativity. Inspired by the traditional naturalist’s pocketbook, this hands-on program will guide you through the creation of your own cyanotype and mixed media artist book.

In the first session, discover the magic of cyanotype, an early photographic process that captures the beauty of sunlight and shadow in striking blue-and-white prints. Experiment with leaves, flowers, and ink drawings on transparencies, and watch your designs come to life on watercolour paper.

In the second session, learn how to fold, sew, and assemble your cyanotype prints into a handcrafted artist book, adding your own nature-inspired sketches and designs to its pages and covers.

The final session brings it all together as you add colour, texture, and personal expression using inks, pastels, pencils, and collage to complete your unique art journal – a keepsake of creativity and connection with the natural world.
