Art in Conversation | How architecture can transform communities
Event Information
About this Event
Join Helena Sahm for a discussion on how her 2019 artistic residency in the City of Bunbury’s Sister State Zhejiang Province and Sister City Jiaxing changed the way she looks and interprets architecture in Bunbury and the South West.
Using her residency as a starting point, Helena will discuss the pivotal part her residency in China played in the development of her newest body of work, ‘Building Happiness’. Helena will then refer to key artworks in the exhibition that explore the idea of communities affected by the built environment, both public and domestic. The exhibition and this discussion draw on Helena’s research into Allain De Botton’s ‘The Architecture of Happiness’and Tom Dyckhoff's 'The Age of Spectacle, The Rise and Fall of Iconic Architecture’
