Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) will host a Cyber Terrorism Research and Insurance Seminar at NSW Parliament House in Sydney to share the findings of ARPC’s cyber terrorism research project titled: ‘Insurance Risk Assessment of Cyber Terrorism in Australia’.

The aim of the research was to explore current and prospective cyber terrorism threats, plausible cyber terrorism scenarios and the practicalities of extending insurance coverage to include cyber terrorism in Australia. ARPC’s research partners were the Centre for Risk Studies, Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.

With the project now complete, ARPC is keen to share the research findings with our government and insurance industry stakeholders who generously supported our research through active participation in cyber workshops and other means.

Speakers comprise:

Professor Paula Jarzabkowski, high profile insurance academic, author and International Forum of Terrorism Risk (Re)Insurance Pools (IFTRIP) presenter, will chair the Seminar, panel discussion and Q&As.

Dr Christopher Wallace, ARPC CEO, will present the updated 2017 ARPC cyber terrorism research paper: ‘Cyber Terrorism and Australia’s Terrorism Insurance Scheme’.

Mr Simon Ruffle, Director of Research & Innovation, Centre for Risk Studies, Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, will be in Sydney to present Cambridge’s 2020 research findings on current and near-term cyber terrorism threats, plausible cyber terrorism scenarios and a range of insured and economic losses.

Dr Ryan Springall, General Manager, Risk Frontiers, will address the Seminar on 'how to make the Australian economy cyber risk resilient', a submission to the Department of Home Affairs 2020 Cyber Security Strategy.

Registrations, including a working lunch, commence at 1.30 pm. The Seminar commences at 2.00 pm and concludes at 5.00 pm, to be followed by networking drinks till 7:00 pm.

Registrations are free of charge, however prospective attendees should register using their company or university email addresses. ARPC reserves the right to decline registrations.
