Overview

This session is for disability service providers and behaviour support practitioners.

This session is designed for disability service providers and behaviour support practitioners who have an understanding of restrictive practices and are familiar with the Authorisation of Restrictive Practices in Funded Disability Services Policy (available on the Authorisation of Restrictive Practices website).

This session does not explore regulated restrictive practices in detail. It is recommended participants complete an Authorisation of Restrictive Practices Policy Overview Session before attending this session.

This free 90-minute interactive session will explore ways that reduction and elimination of restrictive practices can be achieved using a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework. Areas of discussion and exploration include:

  • how the human rights of people are upheld through the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices
  • barriers to reduction and elimination
  • how a PBS framework assists us to safely reduce and eliminate restrictive practices
  • systems and processes that enable a focus on reduction and elimination now and in the future.

The session will be facilitated via the Microsoft Teams online meeting platform. If registering on behalf of others, please include attendee name/s so we know who will be participating in the session.
