Event description

Description

How fast can your spinner turn?

We will use the open source Arduino platform to combine electronics and code to make a tool that will tell you how fast your fidget spinner is turning.

We'll show you how to build a circuit that uses a special IR LED that can shine a light on a receiver. We can then count the number of times the light gets broken by the spinner, we'll have to consider a few things like the shape of our spinner.

This will be a great chance to learn how to use the Arduino to solve a real world problem - which is the fastest spinner?

There is an option to take your project home after the workshop ends.
