Event description

Description

The Marrickville Medal for Conservation celebrates works that contribute to the understanding and preservation of the Inner West’s rich cultural and architectural heritage. Chris Major, co-founder of the award-winning Sydney practice Welsh + Major, is a modern architect who often works in a heritage context. She will explain how the heritage context can be reconsidered for modern living, and how architecture can enhance both old and new.

Architect Lisa Merkesteyn, will discuss the two shortlisted entries in the Marrickville Medal by Carter Williamson Architects; Truss house in Rozelle, and Screen house in Balmain, explaining the relationships between old and new through materials and details.

Curated and introduced by local architects Sam Rigoli, Michael Zanardo, Casey Bryant and Lisa Merkesteyn, the Architecture on Show talks are presented by Inner West Council in association with the Australian Institute of Architects.
