Event description

Description

In partnership with The Australian Institute of Architects, this Architecture on Show event delves into the client-architect relationship. When homeowners embrace an architect’s vision, a unique collaboration is formed. To create effective, joyful and enduring spaces that can accommodate daily life, clients will divulge intimate truths about their home and family. On the other hand, architects will unveil the deep-seated values that govern their creativity.

Through conversation and Q&A, we unravel the exchanges via the work of architect, Eva-Marie Prineas, and her relationship with client, Ariana Koller. Balancing communication, trust and respect, these 2 successfully navigated this complex process to create the beautiful, combined vision of House Koller.

In creating House Koller, a 2-story timber pavilion was added to the rear of the existing traditional bungalow, serving as a nostalgic nod to the clients’ Swiss heritage. This was separated from the existing house by a glazed link, providing a smooth transition between old and new whilst taking full advantage of solar amenity. Next came landscaping works and putting in a pool.

Ariana Koller, Client

With her husband, Peter, Ariana engaged Eva-Marie to realise their dream home. As a yoga instructor and mum, her primary focus was to future-proof her home, particularly as her children stepped into their teenage years.

Eva-Marie Prineas, Principal Architect and Founder, Architect Prineas

With a background in heritage architecture, Eva-Marie treasures existing beauty, coupled with an intention to build on their enduring qualities. She engages in place-making – supporting her clients’ unique vision for living.
