Event description

Description

We invite you to join a practical 5 day workshop to learn professional colour investigation techniques. It is vital that targeted research is carried out to inform decisions made about paint and colour schemes to support the interpretation and understanding of heritage places.

Led by Dr Donald Ellsmore, you will investigate historic colour schemes at Woodbridge in small teams of four. You will learn a technique to record paint & plaster samples by resin mounting these samples in a laboratory setting at the University of Western Australia. Information is provided in themed discussions with visual presentations, practical activities and site visits. The foundation research tools of paint sampling and photomicroscopy will be applied by participants at Woodbridge.

This course is suitable for students and heritage professionals wishing to extend their professional training. The investment of five days allows you to do site work and daily lab sessions. Training is to be held at both Woodbridge and the University of Western Australia (21km) so some commuting will be required through the week. Carpooling is encouraged.

This project contributes to conservation, interpretation and education at Woodbridge, and is made possible through the generous support of the National Trust of Western Australia and University of Western Australia.

You will need to provide you own accommodation and transport and be available for the five days of training. Participants will receive a certificate on completion of the final report.
