Event description

Description

Come and enjoy an environmental campout at the Korong Ridge Conservation Estate.

Sleep under the clear night skies, enjoy the brilliant stars and explore the granitic tors.

The Conservation Estate is home to both the Eastern and Western Grey Kangaroos, Swamp Wallabies, Possums, Gliders, the endangered Hooded Robin and Painted Honeyeater, as well as a range of Woodland birds and threatened plant species.

A mixture of Remnant Box Ironbark Forest and Revegetation, the conservation estate adds to the biodiversity of the district.

Listen to presentations by local conservationist and ecologists and discover the history of the Korong Ridge.

Receive training in Arboreal Mammal Nestbox installation and monitoring, fitting drift-nets over reptile pitfall traps, and learn about the conservation efforts of the Wedderburn Conservation Management Network (WCMN), Mt Korong Eco-Watch (MKEW) and the Korong Ridge Conservation Estate.

You will be involved in erecting Arboreal Mammal Nest boxes on both poles and trees and installing drift nets over reptile pitfall traps.

A barbeque dinner and breakfast will be provided, vegetarian options will be available - but for catering purposes, please advise James Nelsson (email: facilitator@lpln.org) of any dietary requirements.

Water, Tea, Coffee and Milo will be available, but please provide your own lunches and snacks.

BYO: Camping equipment, bedding, appropriate clothing (it can be cold or hot at this time of year, so coat, hats and closed shoes), torches, binoculars, reusable water bottle, special beverages.

Located on the east side of Mt Korong NCR, on the Wedderburn - Serpentine Road Glenalbyn, midway between Inglewood and Wedderburn in North Central Victoria.
