APSIG April Monthly Meeting - Health Literacy and the Pharmacist

Health literacy is about how people understand information about health and health care, and how they apply that information to their lives and use it to make decisions. It shapes peoples health and the safety and quality of health care. Low levels of individual health literacy contribute to poorer health outcomes, increased risk of an adverse event and higher healthcare costs. (Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care). This workshop delivered by health literacy expert Mr Greg Duncan, will help pharmacists gauge a patient’s health literacy and develop strategies to improve health outcomes in patients.
This evening will commence with a literature review by Professor Louis Roller.
Networking and refreshments from 7pm.
